I saw this fellow while diving with my husband on Buddy Reef in Bonaire . He was out exploring during the day, an unusual behavior. At first he didn’t seem bothered as we watched and photographed him, although we could tell his W-shaped pupils were trained on us. Through convergent evolution these cephalopods can see at least as well as we do. Eventually he blanched and put on his “owl eyes” defensive display, so we backed away and watched him jet off.
